Seasonal Sadness

When the clocks change and the nights draw in, the feeling of gloom can envelop our minds and take over our world.   So why is this? Some of it can be due to a lack of exposure to natural light and vitamin D, some is about being couped up indoors, and some can be our state of mind.  Have you found yourself saying ‘I hate it when the clocks change’ or ‘I feel so miserable at this time of year’, our self-talk is always with us, working in the background, and can have such an impact on our state of mind. Interestingly when we have beliefs like these, we tend to look for the instances that reinforce the belief, creating a spiral downwards.  So, it’s worth thinking about our self-talk and looking for moments that are the opposite of these beliefs, therefore creating more balance in our minds and bodies.
